7th & 8th Grades - Theresa Martinez

 

 

Theresa Martinez is the 7th and 8th grade homeroom teacher and the math teacher for grades 5 - 8th at OACS.  She was born in Manchester, New Hampshire but raised in Englewood, Florida.  She began her studies in pre-med; with a lot of prayer, her love for learning and teaching, she decided to serve God through education. She graduated in 2015 from the University of West Florida with a Bachelors in Elementary Education and a focus in ESE, ESOL, and Reading K-12. She has obtained her teaching certification in elementary education with Junior Academy endorsements in Bible, Math, and Science. She recently finished her certification in teaching gifted education. Mrs. Martinez has been at Port Charlotte Adventist School since she began her teaching career 8 years ago and looks forward to joining Osceola Adventist Christian School for the 2023-2024 school year. She has served in teaching an array of grades from 3rd through 10th grade. 
As a teacher, Mrs. Martinez has put her passion for math to work in helping develop and teach cohorts within the Florida Conference of Education (FLCOE) and has served to help create math learning units with a group of teachers within the North American Division (NAD) of Seventh-Day Education. She recently received her coaching certificate from Harvard University and is actively helping to coach her math peers on
how to make math more fun, engaging, and understandable. She also is very passionate about the importance of teaching technology and innovation.
When Mrs. Martinez isn’t teaching, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading. She is always up for a new adventure, and visiting new places.
